Aluah Nature
Nature is always with Aluah, and Aluah only wants others
to appreciate Nature as much as she relies on Her.
Aluah Nature Prelude
My first true memory in life involves nature. I was sitting in an apple tree on a warm summer day. As I took a bite into a juicy green apple, I remember thinking – wow, what a beautiful world, as the big white clouds floated by against the blue sky above. Ever since then, I’ve always felt like I was part of nature and not separate from her and that there is always something bigger than me in this life.
I was also quite curious about Nature; and enjoyed collecting rocks, leaves, and insects. Eventually, I bought a microscope, went down to the nearby creek, and gathered a small bottle of water. I took it home, and spent hours identifying the many different types of single-celled amoebae.
To this day, as far as I know, no human being has ever created even one, one-celled living thing. How humbling, considering all that we know.
My writings in ‘Aluah Nature’ are about Nature being true to herself and our being a part of Her; thus the great lesson for us is to be true to ourselves, as well. Unfortunately, we often think that we are elevated above Nature or are here to conquer her. When, in fact, we could be considered an interference and maybe even a parasite in her world; although, we do expel CO2 and eventually decompose.
Our often superior attitude toward Nature is quite cavalier on our part. We like to believe that we are sovereign over her, have been given dominion over her, and can somehow manage her – when, in fact, we can’t even take care of ourselves.
The truth is, that on her own, Nature tolerates us here; and our best hope is that she continues to be our caretaker a little while longer. That’s where we must trust in the larger meaning of life and that the Spirit is more relevant than the physical.

Aluah understands that she is part of Nature, and her
hope is for all of us to live with archetypal wildness.

Absorption and Evaporation
When too much rain falls from the sky, I sometimes wonder if Earth Has any more room for her. With open arms, the soil Seems to welcome her -- Like some salve on a wound. I can hold you for awhile The ground seems to say, But sooner or later You must leave my clay. If you don’t return now From where you came, A leak or seep will take You down before you can Rejoin your lofty crown. |
Spring
Spring never seems To be in a hurry To thaw Our winter bones. She actually seems To hesitate Like on a good walk She hopes Won’t come to an end. Instead of appearing Suddenly like an actor Behind a curtain on stage, Spring sequesters herself And teases us for awhile To build drama and mystery Long enough for us to pay attention To see and wonder about her, If she will ever return. We wait in hope for her To show us a sign, Even though The whole time We are the ones She hopes to find. |
Truth, Beauty, and Goodness – The Trinity of Nature
Nature was never meant to be comfortable or convenient. It has always been wild, irregular, and answering pretty much to itself.
Of course, nature is beautiful. Beauty comes from and belongs to nature itself, and yes, we are part of nature. As nature is beautiful, so are we. However, our observation or interpretation of nature’s beauty does not change its inherent source or expression. Our thinking and orchestration are mere pawns, when it comes to nature. Yes, we can enhance or modify a seed or graft a branch to change more rapidly nature’s own into something we foresee or want it to be. But we still are dwarfed and humbled by what it becomes.
So when one considers nature, of what realms do we think. Truth, beauty, and goodness for sure.
But what of:
A servant,
A master,
A slave,
A king.
A gypsy,
A home.
Most I would think may start with beauty. Surely something we appreciate, and may even try as humans to compose, create, emulate, or elucidate in such a way that at least we feel adequate to compare what we create in a small way to something we’ve seen in the natural world. Not to discourage or diminish our human endeavor to create something beautiful.
Supposedly so, I would think that our goal or what we try to do in our creative antics is to make, or write, or compose, or sing something beautiful. If you ask an artist, an artisan, a laborer, or a king, what are you trying to do; I would ponder to observe that most would say – I’m trying to create something beautiful or good.
So what about truth – in nature or in what we create or do everyday. I would suggest that the creative core in us is embedded in the conscious or unconscious pursuit and mission of reflecting, uncovering, or imitating the beauty and goodness inherent in nature so that it will spill over us enough to help us see ourselves in a new way or to elucidate our blindness enough to help us see what has always been there.
So if our creative attempts and efforts are pointed toward beauty and goodness, where and how does disparate and non-apparent truth fit into the apparent neutralism of beauty and goodness.
Albeit, while I have found none to contest beauty, one could potentially argue the goodness of nature due to the occurrences of untimely and unfortunate misfortunes or consequences associated with natural events, though I would think without intent on nature’s part.
So try mingle truth into inanimate nature or even its animate creatures that may also at times interrupt or intersect unpleasant results whether it be within the scope of singular human existence, a small sphere of family or friends, or more broadly so to societies and civilizations.
The archetype of human and animal relationship to nature has been for the vast majority of space and time to be an inhabitor, collector, feeder, or adaptor who reaps and harvests from nature to survive – regardless of which, are only mere pinholes of activity compared to the big forces of nature that always will correct or adapt to itself. In other words, the Earth will take care of itself, even if it means spewing or spitting us out along the way. No intent meant – just what it will do to be true to itself and what it is. Which reinforces the truth that the inevitable action of nature will be true to what it is. So we as humans, too, find truth in being true to whom and what we are. While human or even animal and plant presence is a byproduct of favorable natural conditions or forces, the dynamic physical substances and conditions such as temperature and quantities of elements, are the set of parameters that were given from the start and are still the fundamental base in nature from which all human, animal, or plant life happens, interacts, or responds.
