Aluah Others
Aluah is outward looking, and more sensitive to the soul of others than her own.
Even so, she lives in the tangled webs of herself and others.
Aluah Others Prelude
Relating to ourselves is difficult enough in life, then there is the component of relating to others.
How we treat others, and how they treat us. How we make other people feel, and how other people make us feel.
I suppose none of us totally know how others feel, even though we try or at least say comforting words at a time when there are no words.
When others are involved, we may become exasperated with them; and they may become exasperated with us. Either way, there is no road for any of us to live our lives without others.
So I suppose, one of the great challenges in life is for us to understand how others think and feel. Not that they have to think like us, or that we have to think like them; but at least we expand ourselves enough to slightly comprehend someone else.
Living our lives with others is a sharp tool for each of us. I don’t understand all the things I have done to others, and I don’t understand all the things that others have done to me and for what reason.
In ‘Aluah Others’, I explore some of that without big answers, but with thought and feeling; of which, even to this day, I am not sure I understand enough.

Can’t Feel Your Pain
It is truly difficult – If not impossible To feel someone Else’s pain. Even so, In our own ways We try to comfort Or at least say We understand. What more can we do, When we really can’t feel Someone else’s pain. Maybe part Of everyone’s pain, Is that we can’t feel Someone else’s pain. |
Meanness and Kindness
We all have the Capacity for kindness, And mostly think Of ourselves As being kind. We all have the Capacity for meanness, And mostly don’t think Of ourselves As being mean. The things We do in kindness, May even be held up By ourselves as Proof of our goodness. The things We do in meanness, May even be dismissed By ourselves as Proving a point. Either way, Our acts of meanness Will always be remembered More deeply by us than Our acts of kindness. |
