Michael – long-time friend and former work colleague
Pauly’s writings are a fresh, honest approach to life. The writings are simply stated and easy to identify with. They are presented in such a real and non-threatening way that I was able to see things in my own life. Hey bud, nice work. Never knew you were into drawings, too.
Marty Expounds – long-time friend
I read a lot of stuff, and Pauly is my new favorite poet. He rips my heart out every time. I’ve known Pauly for 20 years, and he is one of my dearest friends. Everything Pauly writes stabs me in my heart with my own conviction; even though, I thought I had stopped the bleeding of feeling anything or anyone anymore. Pauly is ruthless in how he writes, and should provide a tourniquet for anyone brave enough to read his shit. I don’t have a band aid or roll of toilet paper big enough to compress or wipe away what I read today.
Les – long-time friend
Pauly’s writings put me into a ponderance.
Carolyn – my sister’s sister-in-law
Wow ... your drawings are gorgeous! I am amazed by the range of talent you have ... writer, thinker, designer, artist, builder, creator, woodworker. This is definitely your calling. I read the ‘Truth, Beauty, and Goodness – The Trinity of Nature’ document (see ‘Aluah Nature’ section) … so many profound thoughts. I printed it out and need to read it again.
Al – long-time friend and fishing buddy
Pauly’s writings are real and help me talk about things in my life that I normally never would. Even reading one can create a great conversation.
Tom – recent friend and auto auction work colleague
Your writings are excellent, and I thank you for sending them. They will be stored in my archives for others to read, too.
Larry – friend and former work colleague
Pauly, my great philosopher. Holy moly dude! You blew my brain apart with ‘Truth, Beauty, and Goodness – the Trinity of Nature’ (see ‘Aluah Nature’ section). I also enjoyed the little tale ‘Sandbar’ (see ‘Aluah Stories’ section). Reminded me of my own boyhood and simpler times.
Durwin – friend and former work colleague
Good to hear from you. Sounds like you’ve embarked on a new, very personal venture.
Joe – long-time friend
Your writings are simply beautiful.
Alliah – lady friend with kids
You have always been very giving and real with life. You walked me and the kids through a very hard time in my life … without judgment … this is why I love you so much. Thanks for sending me your writings and drawings. It is great to see your thoughts coming together. Know that you were the center of our world, and we still love you ... and maybe one day we will take that beautiful orange sailboat boat for a ride.
Eddie – my favorite pitman at the auto auction
After giving Eddie a copy of my story ‘Auto Auction Day’ (see ‘Aluah Stories’ section); the next week, he gave me two thumbs up through the windshield of the first car I drove that day. Ya baby, I said to myself, as I responded with my two-handed Pauly fingers move and smile! (See ‘Aluah Biography’ photo). Eddie said that he wants to frame and display my story. Somehow, I think our dads could tell some stories, too.
Garrett – an elderly gentleman for whom I helped build a new deck, put in a window, and did miscellaneous repair. After reading my poem/story
‘Silent Walk of A Veteran’ (see ‘Aluah Soldier’ section), he said he shed a few tears and framed it for display.
A Shriner who attended my first speaking engagement
Paul, you have an amazing gift with words. If it’s okay with you, I’d love to have a copy of your poem ‘Prisons’ (see ‘Aluah Self’ section). Of course, I gave him the only copy I had with me.
Another Shriner after my first speaking engagement
Paul, this is the best meeting we’ve had in the 10 years I’ve been a Shriner.
Gordy – auto auction work colleague and Shriner
After making a black diamond willow cane for Gordy (WWII Navy Veteran), I also gave him two of my poems called ‘Cane Side’ and ‘Blindness’ (see ‘Aluah Stories’ section). After reading the poems, Gordy asked me, ‘Paul, are you a poet?’ After hesitating for a moment, I finally said, ‘Yes, I am.’ He then asked me, if I would speak to his Shriner group; thinking it would be something different. We met a few weeks later, and I read some more of my other writings to him. We had a great discussion, and after that, he booked me for my first speaking engagement. You never know where a blessing may come from. Thank you Gordy.
